Cycplus CUBE (e-pump)

Apologize for the long due post but today we will explore the tiniest electric pump on earth - the Cycplus CUBE.
Electric bicycle pump have been around for a while now and you may have seen a lot of people with the Xiaomi one, efficient but bulky and heavy.

Cycplus is also a Chinese company which is focused on electronic devices you use with your bike. Bike computer, speed or cadence sensors, etc. Name it, they have it. No power meter though.

I'm well known for having flats on a regular basis.. so I went tubeless. It solves most of the punctures you can have but the time the sealant does its job you may lose a bit of tyre pressure, hence the need of a pump. A manual pump or a normal electric pump would do but as mentioned it's not the easiest to carry around . CO2 cartridges, why not but not eco friendly and it's not the sealant best friend so when I heard about the Cycplus CUBE, I was really curious about it and started to look around for more info.

It's not easy to find, you can order from their website for a whoopy 89$ or buy it from a few online shops. Finally got my hands on it in Hong Kong!

First reaction is that this thing is really really small, not even the size of your hand palm and everyone would be skeptical on its efficiency just by looking at it.

However despite its size, it works pretty well! At least well enough to save your a$$ in case of a puncture. The battery is supposed to allow you to pump a tyre ( 700Cx25 ) two times at 80psi. Reality is, it's more like 60psi at max two times or above it one time as higher the pressure, harder the pump has to work (and noisier it is).

I've tried it multiple times and I would say your tyre will be pumped enough after 1m30sec which is great given the size of the pump.

This is a one button system. One click, it gives you the battery left thanks to a small colored LED; two clicks and it starts pumping.

One clever engineering idea is that the air is directly pumped through the USB-C port, that's clever really and probably helps minimizing the size.

If you're running tubeless tires or are into gravel/MTB or anything that requires less tyre pressure, this is really a must! You get rid of CO2 cartridges (save the planet πŸ₯΄) and can keep the Cycplus CUBE at all time under your saddle.

Otherwise if you're running a more traditional setup and need your tubes to be inflated at 100/120psi without compromising anything, well it might not be the best option out there.

Rating: Pricey but worth a look if you don't need the maximum tyre pressure
